Introducing: Japa Journal
... and other housekeeping items.
Greetings, my most astute readers.
Jumbled Jurisprudence’s last article was well-received and engaged with. Thank you for your involvement, and I hope to see more of you in the comments challenging and pushing the conversation further.
We’ve got two housekeeping notes to address:
First, Jumbled Jurisprudence is getting a new section: Japa Journal! I know, we’ve had one post, and now there’s a new section?? I promise it’s well thought out. I’m making this distinction to more properly categorize and cater to slightly differing interests of mine and yours. There are the legal and philosophical geeks who’d like me to do just what I set out to with Jumbled, reflect on and analyze legal concepts across issues and jurisdictions. However, my interests stretch beyond strictly legal-philosophical thinking, and I recognize that’s more so the case for my already diverse readership. More so, whereas Jumbled is intended to be fluid in geographical and jurisdictional scope, hence “Jumbled,” I’d like to pay specific focus on Nigerian and African affairs occasionally.
Accordingly, I present to you: Japa Journal.
For those unfamiliar with the term, “Japa,” a Yoruba word turned into Nigerian slang, means to run quickly or escape from a dangerous situation. It’s also often used to describe the act of emigrating from Nigeria. In Japa Journal, I’ll publish socioeconomic essays on Nigeria, Africa, and their place in the world.
Until further notice, all Jumbled Jurisprudence subscribers will be automatically added to the Japa Journal mailing list. Feel free to stick around for both! I promise premium content on both ends. I’d also like to promise one last thing: if I start another publication, I will not name it something with letter ‘J’ alliterations.
In Japa Journal, I’ll publish socioeconomic essays on Nigeria, Africa, and their place in the world.
Second, publication days. I initially intended to post every second Friday, but it occurred to me that reading legal or political analysis might not be top of the to-do list on a Friday evening. So, I’ve decided to post every Sunday (on either Jumbled or Japa). Readership spans all over the globe, so timing is largely moot, but I’ll get it to you before anyone gets in bed to go again on Monday.
Check your inbox this Sunday for the next post: The Industrialism Playbook: Still Viable for African Nations?
Stay safe & vigilant. Chao!
